It’s one of the most highly anticipated gaming console os all time, and now a new design concept has given us a hint at what the PlayStation 5 could look like.
The concept was created by developer FalconDesign3D, and is based on a previous image leaked on 4chan.
He tweeted photos of his design concept, writing: “Did a PS5 rending based on the latest leaks of its design.”
The rendering shows an unusual shaped console, featuring an X-shape that you might expect to see from PlayStation’s rival, Xbox.
Meanwhile, the PS5 logo – which was recently revealed at the CES technology conference – features on two sides of the console.
While the design is pretty impressive, it seems that PlayStation fans aren’t convinced.
One user replied: “There is no way the PS5 will be a giant X,” while another said: “I think they’re throwing out God awful designs to throw us off the trail…can’t be this ugly.”
The concept images come shortly after a new leak suggested that Sony could unveil the PlayStation 5 within days.
The leak indicates a launch date of February 5 – much earlier that previously anticipated.
Meanwhile, the leaker also revealed several features tipped for the gaming console – several of which have been previously rumoured.
This includes backwards compatibility for all PlayStation titles, and ‘remote play’, the ability to log into your PlayStation account on any device.
As always, it’s important to remember that this is currently just a rumour, and Sony is yet to confirm or deny any leaks.
However, Jim Ryan, CEO at Sony Interactive Entertainment, has revealed that the console will go on sale in Holiday 2020.
In a blog last year, he wrote: “Since we originally unveiled our next-generation console in April, we know that there’s been a lot of excitement and interest in hearing more about what the future of games will bring.
“Today I’m proud to share that our next-generation console will be called PlayStation 5, and we’ll be launching in time for Holiday 2020.”
