Alexandre Lacazette has taken aim at his Arsenal teammates for being “naive” during their draw with Sheffield United.
The Gunners looked on course to beat the Blades on Saturday after Gabriel Martinelli’s strike on the brink of half time handed Mikel Arteta’s side the lead.
But John Fleck netted for the visitors in the 83rd minute to condemn Arsenal to their 11th draw of the season and leave them 10th in the Premier League table.
Dropping points from losing positions has been a regular occurrence in north London this season.
And striker Lacazette has slammed the Gunners for their poor mentality.
“They were not very dangerous but this match summarises how we are this season. We are winning the match but don’t get it over the line,” Lacazette told RMC Sport.
“We are quite naive at the moment. We need to be nastier and more consistent in the 90th to 93rd minutes of matches.
“Especially when we can do better than this. We have the players required. It is a shame.”
On the other hand, Shkodran Mustafi was positive of Arteta’s influence on Arsenal since his arrival in December and his ability to sort out their organisation.
The centre-back said: “It is not tennis when everyone can do whatever they want.
“Just because you have 11 or 18 individually good players does not mean it is going to work.
“It was important to get someone in like Mikel that knows exactly what he wants from each player in each position.
“This is the way we can perform only when someone like him comes in and tells us exactly what he wants and stick to the plan – it makes everything a lot easier.
“For me, Mesut has always been the same. The change that we had with the boss helped him a lot as it helped a lot of other players.
“When the team is performing well, it is easier when everyone knows how we want to play and knows his job.
“You can focus on your job and you don’t have to care about a lot of other things. You can focus on yourself.
“For him, now, because we want to play attacking football, it suits him.
“He enjoys himself and when he is playing like he has in the last few games it helps the team.”
