The Wirral school in lockdown: Children evacuated as armed police scramble to bomb threat | UK | News


Egremont Primary School in Wallasey has been evacuated amid the incident. It comes as emergency services are attending a house on Darlington Street which a man is “threatening to blow up”.

In a message to parents the school, which is on Church Street, said: “There is an incident in the area opposite school and we have been advised by police to evacuate the building.

“We will be making out way to the Town Hall.”

Police, an ambulance and a fire engine are attending the scene.

Darlington Street, Union Street and Church Street have been sealed off.

One person tweeted: “Police incident taking place in #Egremont on the #Wirral.

“Road leading to Egremont Primary School cordoned off, with school evacuated.

“Rumours of a man in possession of a gun, and the gas on in his home.”
