The presidential hopeful made the comments during his campaign trail in Muscatine, Iowa. He revealed that he would have liked to have had Michelle as his running mate ahead of the US election later this year. Mr Biden has not yet been chosen as the Democrat nominee, but the revelation could have an impact on whether he gets the nod or not.
He said: “I sure would like Michelle to be the vice president.”
The former Vice President was also quizzed about whether ex-US President Barack Obama, Michelle’s husband, could be welcomed to the Supreme Court.
Mr Biden said that both Michelle and Barack were “incredibly qualified people”.
He added: “They’re such decent, honourable people.”
It comes after the former First Lady issued a statement saying she was uninterested in running for President last year.
However, political commentator Tucker Carlson claimed this could all be a rouse.
He said on Fox News Live: “Don’t bet against Michelle Obama.
“Last week, the former first lady issued a statement saying that she has no interest in being president.
Mr Carlson continued: “If Obama had endorsed Joe Biden, the race would be over.
“Obama hasn’t endorsed Joe Biden because he doesn’t want to endorse Joe Biden.
“Why? Maybe he’s got other plans.”
The Fox News anchor also said the recent release of Michelle’s journal could be a “coincidence”.
